Joan Wäger and Eva García win in the XTERRA Costa Brava

Joan Wager y Eva García have prevailed in the first edition of the Eva Garcia , marking the expected return to Spain after 7 years of absence.

The Costa Brava and the natural environment of Calonge i Sant Antoni have been the perfect setting for the return of the XTERRA to Spain.

A total of 260 athletes of 15 nationalities have gathered in the competition, enjoying a tour that began on Torre Valentina beach.

The sprint distance: victories for Abel Serra and Justine Virevialle

The day began with the sprint distance, which proposed a challenge of 750 meters of swimming in the open sea, 15 kilometers of Mountain Bike and 5 of trail running.

Abel Serra, in the male category, and the French Justine Virevialle they were the fastest to cover all three sectors and emerged victorious.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the long distance triathletes, who faced the full modality with a 1,5 km swimming race, 30 km by bike along the paths of the mountainous environment of Sant Antoni de Calonge and a running race. 10 km along the slopes of the coast.

Joan Wager he prevailed with authority over his rivals, followed by the French François Carloni y Mikel Ibergallartu third.

In the female category, the champion was Eva Garcia, ahead of the French Romane Cizeron and Maria Calleja which was third.

Qualification for the 2023 XTERRA World Championship
