The WILD WOLF Triathlon Series by POLAR brings together 700 athletes in the A Coruña Triathlon

Triathlon of A Coruña has increased its 40 share by 2012

 

For the second consecutive year, the WILD WOLF Triathlon Series by POLAR have landed in A Coruña, sixth seat of the largest national triathlon circuit. On a sunny morning, the Galician city was ready to welcome the almost 700 athletes who, in sprint and Olympic distance, have taken the start.

 

 

With these figures, the Triathlon of A Coruña is strong among the venues of the WILD WOLF Triathlon Series by POLAR with a growth of 40% participation compared to the inaugural edition and it is consolidated as the most crowded competition in Galicia.

 

With the boxes installed in front of the mythical Riazor Stadium, the test started at 08: 30 h. from the Riazor Beach with the Olympic distance exits in which, the good condition of the sea, allowed the triathletes to enjoy the 1.500 meters of swimming in a single round. Subsequently, the cycling route was developed in 5 around the seafront, to complete 38 kilometers, and the race on foot was made to 4 laps on a route of 2,5 km, with a total of 10 km.

 

Antonio Serrat was the winner of the test with a time of 01: 52: 24. The triathlete was accompanied on the podium by Francisco Cerdán (01: 55: 53) and José Manuel Pardo (01: 56: 23). In the female category, the winner was Tatiana Domínguez, in 02: 15: 52, followed by Blanca Labandeira (02: 19: 49) and Rocío Porto (02: 26: 33).

 

At 09: 15 h. Sprint began with 750 meters of swimming (1 lap), 22 km of cycling (3 laps) and 5 km of running (2 laps) had as winners Andres Cendán (01: 05: 42) and Marta Barbeito (01: 14: 08). The male podium was completed with David Liste (01: 08: 22), in the second step, and José Manuel Vázquez (01: 09: 32), in the third. The female had Irene Serrat (01: 14: 30), as second classified, and Laura Mosquera (01: 15: 34), as third.

 

Packed by a large number of fans, the competition closed with the awards ceremony, on this occasion, was attended by Francisco Mourelo, Councilor for Sports of A Coruña; Ruth Ballesteros, of the board of trustees of the Triathlon Federation of Galicia; and Tiste Orozco, responsible for communication at Wild Wolf. In addition, the test had a special memory for María García Rubio, of the Triathlon Deporama, the young triathlete recently deceased to be run over by a car.

 

The circuit WILD WOLF Triathlon Series by Polar faces the final stretch of a successful season, backed by Wild Wolf, Polar and ISDIN. The next appointments will be in Palma de Mallorca y San Sebastián, 8 and 15 for September respectively. Both tests premiere this 2013 in the leading circuit of the sport of transitions.
