World Triathlon sanctions the Russian Federation for one year.

The World Triathlon Executive Committee has decided to sanction the Russian Triathlon Federation due to the significant number of doping cases in Russia.

The sanction will be valid for one year and World Triathlon will review quarterly that these measures are being followed.

List of sanctions

The sanctions approved by the Executive Committee consist of the following:

  • The Russian Triathlon Federation will reach an agreement with RUSADA to analyze all Russian athletes, especially to all those athletes who will be competing internationally.
  • The Russian Triathlon Federation, together with World Triathlon, create an educational plan for Russian athletes and coaches regarding doping issues.
  • The Russian Triathlon Federation compensate and refund the prize money previously awarded Russian triathletes sanctioned with doping offenses.
  • Officials of the Russian Triathlon Federation must rList any European and world triathlon body for the period of one year.
  • The Russian Triathlon Federation cannot organize any World Triathlon or European event for one year (until the end of 2022).
  • The Russian National Federation will reimburse World Triathlon for all costs (including but not limited to laboratory fees, hearing expenses and travel) related to any Anti-Doping Rule violations committed by its athletes and coaches.
  • Sanctions should be taken within the Russian National Triathlon Federation for any coach or official who is involved in any doping offense, and collaboration with World Triathlon disciplinary bodies should be done.
