WTCS 2025: Everything you need to know

La Season 2025 of the World Triathlon Series is about to begin.

From the fascinating aridity of Abu Dhabi to the spectacular coastline of Wollongong, Australia, a tour full of races in very varied environments awaits us.

This year we will see figures like Alex Yee, Hayden Wilde, Lisa Tertsch and the Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand, who will try to put on a show again and be at the top of the rankings.

Below, we review each of this season's venues and their main features.

WTCS Abu Dhabi (15-16 February)

The opening round will take place on Hudayriat Island, located an hour's drive from the famous F1 circuit at Yas Marina.

The event begins with a 750-metre swim through the waters of the Bul Sayayeef Marine Reserve, followed by a 20-km bike ride that combines fast straights with technical turns.

The race will end with a fairly flat 5km run that will mark the awarding of the first medals of the year.

On the 16th, the excitement continues with the Mixed Relay Series, where the team strategy adds an extra dose of adrenaline.

WTCS Yokohama (May 17)

In May it will be time to return to a city with a great triathlon history.

Yokohama is celebrating its 15th edition, with an Olympic-distance circuit that is as punishing in the water as it is on the bike and in the running.

The swim is 1,5 km long, divided into two laps that could divide the group into several groups. Afterwards, 40 km of urban cycling will push the triathletes to their maximum before facing the 10 km run.

Location TBC (Italy, May 31)

The third race of the calendar moves to a new location on the island of Sardinia.

After the exciting races in Cagliari in previous seasons, the challenge is once again at Olympic distance (1,5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

Those who want to stay in the fight for world rankings will have to shine at a delicate moment, close to the middle of the season.

WTCS Hamburg (12-13 July)

The German city is synonymous with triathlon: it has been hosting top-level races since 2002 without a break.

The atmosphere is usually one of a real party, with spectators on the street and a route that usually rewards strength and skill on the bike.

The event will be held in sprint format (750 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running).

In addition, the World Mixed Relay Championship will be held.

WTCS Karlovy Vary (September 14)

This picturesque Czech town, known as an iconic spa resort, has been hosting triathlon events since the late 90s.

This 2025 marks its debut in the World Series, offering a fairly tough Olympic distance course.

The swimming section is particularly complex, while the bike section is a 7-lap course filled with cobblestones, hills and descents with tight turns.

WTCS Weihai (September 26)

This Chinese stop, which opened as a venue WTCS In 2024, it will be held again to offer its particular orography. It will be held over Olympic distance.

Weihai leaves no room for hiding: the ocean swim course is sure to split the field apart due to the currents, the 8-lap cycling segment on undulating terrain tests the triathletes' skills, and the run often turns into a real test of strength.

World Championship: Wollongong (15-19 October)

Just over an hour from Sydney, Wollongong will host the World Championship Finals, an honour Australia has not held since Gold Coast 2018.

The year-end event, also at Olympic distance, will bring together the top ranked athletes to find out who will be the new world champion.

The circuit begins with a 1,5km beach ride into the Tasman Sea, then moves on to a 40km bike ride along coastal roads and finishes with a 10km walk with views of the city's iconic lighthouse.

Olympic Cycle Los Angeles 2028

The season also marks the formal start of the cycle leading up to Los Angeles 2028, so the performance we see in each race could give us clues as to who stands out for future Olympic Games.
