Presented the XTERRA Basque Country

The Basque Country will host the demanding XTERRA BASQUE COUNTRY on June 21, a cross triathlon or mountain triathlon event that places it in the prestigious world XTERRA circuit, whose queen race has been held annually in Hawaii since 1996.

It will be the only test of this circuit to be held in northern Spain, where another five tests are held in 2015 (www.xterraspain.com). It will also be the Euskadi Cross Triathlon Championship in its distance and a maximum participation of 500 triathletes is allowed.

The event will be organized by the Fortuna Sports Club, with the collaboration of the Basque Triathlon Federation, the Commonwealth of Debagoiena, the Department of Tourism of the Basque Government, the Diputación Foral de Álava and other entities and local associations.

The first discipline of this combined test, swimming, will be held in the Ullibarri-Gamboa Reservoir, in the Provincial Park of Landa, habitual point of this modality of other triathlons and, next the participants will take the Mountain bike or BTT to the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, crossing the Sierra de Elgea and the forests near the Sanctuary on a hard circuit with many technical sections.

After reaching Arantzazu the athletes must put on their mountain shoes and climb the high mountain fields under the crestery that make up the Aloña and Aizkorri mountain ranges, arriving at the hermitage of Urbia to return and finish in the singular sanctuary containing works by Jorge Oteiza and Eduardo Chillida, which brings together all the characteristics so that the development of XTERRA Basque Country be spectacular

The XTERRA BASQUE COUNTRY will feature the stellar participation of the Valencian Rubén Ruzafa, current XTERRA world champion and former professional mountain bike rider.

The test allows to register in two distances, PRO for experts and OPEN for initiates and also for teams of three members.
