The Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee has already marked December 7, 2025 in red.

The British will run el Marathon of Valencia Trinidad Alfonso, considered one of the fastest in the world, with his sights set on going under 2h09 and improving the 2:11:08 which he achieved in his London debut this year.

Valencia, the perfect city to fly

The flat layout of the capital of the Turia River and its cool December conditions offer Yee an ideal setting to pursue his brand.

In London, he suffered from the unexpected heat, which held back much of the elite, but he still finished 14th in his debut. Now he arrives more experienced and with weeks of accumulated up to 135km run.

Before the marathon, Yee will also compete in the Valencia Half Marathon, on October 26, as the last test.

Between the triathlon and the marathon

Although his jump to 42K has sparked worldwide interest, Yee hasn't forgotten his home sport: "My big goal is to be at the start of the 2028 Los Angeles Triathlon ready for the race of my life."

After winning gold in Paris 2024, the Briton aims to remain a benchmark in the World Series and hasn't ruled out running a marathon at the 2029 World Athletics Championships in the future if it is confirmed to be held in London.

For now, his attention is focused on Valencia, where he hopes to achieve a negative split (second half faster) and enjoy the experience.

The challenge of double preparation

Balancing triathlon training with such high volumes of running isn't easy, but Yee says he feels motivated and supported by the community:

“Everyone has been very receptive. I think this shows respect for what it means to perform at your best in any sport.”

Final calendar for 2025

After Valencia, Yee will close an intense year in which, in addition to his marathon debut, he has returned to compete in triathlon with victory in Supertri Toronto and ninth place in the WTCS French Riviera.

A 2025 transition towards new horizons that will culminate in the Running City.
