La Lanzarote Cycling Tour kicked off this Saturday with an unforgettable day for cycling and triathlon enthusiasts.
With departure in Club Santa, more of 600 participants de 28 nationalities They gave life to a colorful peloton that traveled through the north and east of the island in a first stage of 115 kilometers marked by a festive atmosphere and public support.
Before taking the start, the attendees were able to enjoy the official song of the Vuelta, debuted for this edition. From the first few meters, the route became a spectacle: in every municipality, residents and fans came out to cheer on the cyclists, creating an atmosphere worthy of a major international race.
A time trial with the taste of legend
The high point of the day came in Would do, where the match was played 8,5-kilometer time trial climb to Mirador del Río, one of the most emblematic sections of Canarian cycling.
In the male category, Daniel Kieron He was the fastest to master the climb, imposing his power in the final meters.
In women, the German Anne Haug, world champion HOMBRE DE HIERRO 2019 and record-breaking woman in Challenge Roth, once again demonstrated his quality with a new victory in Lanzarote.
Club La Santa, the epicenter of cycling on the island
The inaugural stage confirmed the role of Club Santa as the island's sporting epicenter.
The complex once again brought together prominent figures in cycling and triathlon such as Charles Verona, Lourdes oyarbide o Luis Pasamontes, who shared the peloton with amateur athletes, reflecting the inclusive and festive spirit that characterizes this event.
Stage 2: heading west of the island
Tomorrow, Sunday, the participants will face the second stage, with departure from Puerto del Carmen and a layout of 74 kilometers that will cross the areas of Playa Blanca y Yaiza, to end up again at Club La Santa.
The day will include two decisive time trials: the first, 5,3 km between The Casitas and Femes, and a second one of 12,7 km on the road of Timanfaya to Mancha Blanca, where a great battle for the overall times is expected.
