Anne Haug will be at Challenge Salou 2025

One week before the event: Salou prepares for its 10th anniversary

This next May 11th, the town in Tarragona hosts a new edition of the Challenge Salou, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary with a luxury participation.

In total, 44 professional triathletes have confirmed their presence in this medium distance test, which has established itself as one of the most relevant in the calendar national.

Anne Haug, big favorite after her victory in Lanzarote

The great attraction of this edition will undoubtedly be Anne Haug, world champion HOMBRE DE HIERRO in 2019 and recent winner of the Volcano Triathlon 2025.

The German triathlete arrives in Salou in excellent shape, and her presence elevates the level of women's competition to another level.

In May of last year it swept the Club Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, where he not only won, but also beat the circuit record with a time 9:06:40, smashing Paula Newby-Fraser's previous record and leaving the second-place finisher more than 43 minutes behind.

Shortly after, in July, he made history again in the Challenge Roth, where the chrono stopped 8:02:38.

Corachán, back home, is looking for his third win.

The Spanish Judith Corachán, a two-time winner of the event, will also be on the starting line.

Corachán is one of the most beloved figures by the local fans and will fight to repeat victory against top-level rivals such as Dutch Marlene de Boer, main favorite for the podium, or the Italian Isabeletta Curridori, who arrives after a great start to the season. Rounding out the list of favorites is the Frenchwoman Niketa Paskiewiez.

A very open men's event

In the men's category, the fight for the podium is very tight with three prominent names: the Belgian Jonathan Wayaffe, and the British Thomas Davis y Louis Buttrick.

All of them have demonstrated a high level of performance in recent competitions and are candidates for victory.

Among ours, the generational duel between stands out Víctor Arroyo, one of the leading figures in middle distance running in Spain, and the young Alejandro Rodriguez, just 21 years old, who is experiencing meteoric rise. Along with them, Mikel Mugica completes the trio of Spaniards with a chance of making it into the top 10.
