The Spanish triathlon season closes in Ibiza with the 2025 MD Spanish Triathlon and Aquabike Championship.

Santa Eulària des Riu will host the MD 2025 Spanish Triathlon and Aquabike Championship, the last major national event of the calendar FETRI, next November 2nd in Ibiza.

The national triathlon season will close the year in style.

Next November 2th, Santa Eularia des Riu (Ibiza) will be the scene of Spanish Medium Distance Triathlon and Aquabike Championship, the last big event on the calendar of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).

In addition to handing out the last national medals of the year, the event will serve as penultimate scoring event in the National Middle and Long Distance Ranking, being one of the two with the highest score level. Registration will remain open until October 20.

Ibiza thus maintains its close connection with triathlon, consolidating its position as a leading sporting destination. The event will move its hub to Santa Eulària, a town that has hosted European and World Championships in previous years.

El Sports Councilor of the Ibiza Council, Salvador Losa, highlighted the role of sport in the island's deseasonalization of tourism: "Ibiza no longer begins its season with the opening of nightclubs, but with sporting events. Thanks to these types of competitions, we've managed to extend the tourist season from three to more than eight months."

Losa also recalled the impact of the 2023 Multisport World, which “demonstrated the island’s organizational capacity and consolidated its image as a first-class destination.”

The councilor also emphasized the importance of sports tourism: "This means visitors spend more, stay longer, and respect the island. Our commitment to sports is a successful endeavor that generates economic and social benefits for Ibiza."

For its part, Toni Ramón, third deputy mayor and councilor for sports in Santa Eulària, emphasized that the event "will be a first-class spectacle and a unique opportunity for local triathletes and to continue promoting the family and sports tourism that characterizes the municipality."

The championship route will combine the beauty of the surroundings with a fast and accessible layout:

  • 2 km of swimming on the beach of Santa Eulària.
  • 80 km of cycling, divided into 4 laps of 20 km each with just 206 m of positive elevation gain.
  • 18 km of foot race flat, divided into 4 laps along the town's seafront and port.

The departure is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, with arrival and finish on the seafront.

With this event, Ibiza will close the 2025 season by reaffirming its key role within the national calendar., combining sport, tourism and promoting the healthy lifestyle that characterizes triathlon.
