Challenge Barcelona 2025 presents a new cycling circuit

From 30 July The long-awaited new cycling circuit for the event was announced middle distance of the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon 2025: a scenic, fast-paced route with a national seal that promises speed, sea views, and a memorable finish in the heart of Barcelona.

A quick route between the Mediterranean and the city

The new cycling route adds 88 kilometers and is divided into three parts:

  • An initial stretch of 9 km from the CEM La Mar Bella to Montgat.
  • Two laps of 32 km awarded by the N-II, crossing municipalities such as The Masnou, Premia de Mar, Vilassar de Mar, Cabrera de Mar y Mataró.
  • A final return of 15 km to Barcelona, closing the segment in a 100% urban environment.

The test maintains as a logistics center the CEM La Mar Bella, with exit and transition in the Coastal AvenueFrom there, the triathletes will travel along the Maresme coast on a practically flat route perfect for high-speed riding.

Straight lines, speed and a strategic climb

The two intermediate laps of 32 km are carried out along the N-II, a road parallel to the sea with long straight stretches that allow you to maintain a constant pace.

The only notable difficulty is in Cabrera de Mar, with a short but intense climb: 800 meters long and 34 meters of positive elevation gain, which is faced both on the outward and return journeys.

This technical point can make a difference in the strongest groups and add a tactical edge to the segment.

The return to Barcelona: technique and spectacle

The final 15km stretch passes through Badalona and Sant Adrià again, but swaps the rural for an urban setting.

The last few kilometers pass through iconic areas such as the Sagrada Familia, offering triathletes a visually stunning finish before arriving back at the CEM to start the race on foot.

This design allows you to combine speed, control and a very characteristic touch of Barcelona as host city.
