Challenge Barcelona 2026 will be held on October 24 and 25 and will include the return of the Olympic distance along with its popular middle distance.
Barcelona will once again be the world capital of triathlon
Challenge Barcelona has officially announced the dates for its 2026 edition, which will be held on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 of October.
Following the success of the last edition —with almost 3.000 participants—, the test will consolidate its format of middle distance and will recover the Olympic distance, one of the most requested by triathletes.
Registration will open on November 13th 2025 through the official website www.challengebarcelona.com, with Limited places available per category.
The return of the Olympic distance
The big news of 2026 will be the return of the format Olympic (1.500 m swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running), designed for those seeking a balanced challenge between intensity and endurance.
With this addition, the Barcelona event will offer a full range of options for triathletes of all levels.
A weekend for all ages
El Saturday October 24 The aquatic events and the popular aquathlon will be held:
- Aquathlon: 750m swim + 5km run
- Open Water 1.9 km: a lap around the Mar Bella coastal circuit
- Open Water 3.8 km: Two laps of the same course for the most experienced
- El Sunday October 25 Next up is the triathlon, with four distances:
- Middle distance: 1,9 km swimming, 88 km cycling (Barcelona–Mataró) and 21 km running
- Olympic: 1,5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, 10 km running
- Sprint: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Junior Challenge: 300m swim, 7km cycle, 1,5km run (for young people aged 12 to 17)
