The DATEV Challenge Roth once again positioned itself at the top of international triathlon after being recognized, for the fourteenth consecutive time, as the 'Race of the Year' in the prestigious sailfish New Year's Eve, held on November 29 in Langen, near Frankfurt.
This award, given by the readers of Triathlon Magazine, confirms Roth's status as the most highly valued race by athletes and fans, a recognition it has maintained since 2012 without interruption.
A resounding victory in the vote
The German race won the 51% of the votes, far ahead of HOMBRE DE HIERRO Hawaii World Championship (18%) and the Nice World Cup (11%)The difference reflects the enormous emotional bond that Roth generates among participants, both professionals and age groups, who highlight its atmosphere, volunteering and organizational level.
Kathrin Walchshöfer-Helneder, part of TEAMCHALLENGE, accepted the award and thanked the entire community:
“Being chosen 14 years in a row is no coincidence. The magic of Roth is built by every person who is part of the event, from the first volunteer to the last spectator.”
A unique event on the international calendar
With athletes coming from more than 110 countries With a lineup that consistently blends elite athletes with thousands of amateur competitors, Roth is a unique event within the long-distance triathlon scene. For many triathletes, it's the race you have to experience at least once, for its atmosphere, its fast course and its historic triathlon culture.
The next edition will be held on July 5, 2026a date that is already marked on the calendar by thousands of athletes, given that the event sold out of bibs again months ago.
A special mention: Alice Walchshöfer, a tribute to a life dedicated to triathlon
During the same gala, Alice Walchshöfer, an emblematic figure of triathlon in Roth, received the Lifetime Achievement Award, the most prestigious honorary award in the sector. His work over decades has been instrumental in making the Roth district a global benchmark.
The German triathlete Anne Haug, three-time winner of her event and current world record holder, was in charge of presenting her with the award.
