Updates for the 2026 National Triathlon Championships

The FETRI has approved a new focus for the Spanish Triathlon Championships starting in 2026.

For the first time, the categories Cadet, Youth and Junior will have their own exclusive championship between the end of June and the beginning of July, thus consolidating a firm commitment to the national triathlon base.

Additionally, the The Absolute Championship will combine Elite, Under-23, Sprint and Standard Age Group, Paralympic, and Inclusive events into a single weekend.

The elite distances will alternate annually: In 2026 it will be held in Sprint, in 2027 in Olympic, and so on.

This redesign will also involve an adjustment to the qualifying events, which could be reduced from two to just one, though this has yet to be confirmed. The national triathlon championship will be held in September 2026.
