Fernando Zorrilla will make his long-distance debut at the Mediterranean EPIC Triathlon.

Fernando Zorrilla, one of the most recognized names in national triathlon, is launching a new challenge in 2025: long distance.

The Aragonese has confirmed that he will debut in the 226 km of the Mediterranean EPIC Triathlon, which will be held on the days And May 24 25 en Oropesa del Mar and Cabanes (Castellón).

This test will host, for the second consecutive year, the Spanish Long Distance Championship, bringing together the best national specialists in a privileged setting next to the Mediterranean.

“I wanted to do something different this year.”

As explained by himself skunk, the change of format comes from a need for motivation:

“I wanted to do something a little different so as not to repeat the calendar from other seasons and have a new incentive. I have very good references about EPIC from people who have gone in previous years, and a good number of people from the team are also going.”

"I've always gotten over the experience of competing on consecutive weekends with a middle distance race. And since I don't have anything to compete in April either, I have plenty of time to prepare well for the Pamplona and EPIC duo."

More selective season with a new focus

“This year I was motivated to compete less and be a little more selective. Plus, the date suits me perfectly. Then I have three weeks to rest properly afterward.”

A demanding route in Castellón

The journey of Mediterranean EPIC Triathlon will test the endurance of all participants with:

• 3,8 km of swimming divided into two laps,

• 180 km of cycling with 1.275 m of accumulated elevation gain,

• And one final marathon of four flat laps.

Faced with this challenge, Fernando It admits respect but also a lot of desire:

"I don't know if I'll regret it because it will be tough. I have a lot of respect for it, but at the same time I'm looking forward to it. I'm a hard worker and I love doing intense, super-long workouts. I think I'll really enjoy the process of preparing for it."

The Castellón event will not only be the stage for the debut of skunk long distance, but also a national triathlon celebration with activities for triathletes, companions and families.
