The Superweekend on the French Riviera. WTCS and T100 in the same venue for the first time.

The French Riviera will be the center of the world triathlon on August 30 and 31.

On August 30 and 31, 2025, the French Riviera will witness a historic event for triathlon: for the first time, a date on the circuit T100 Triathlon World Tour will coincide with a test of the World Triathlon Series (WTCS).

The seaside town of Saint-Raphaël – Fréjus will host this “super weekend” where the world’s elite in triathlon and age groups will share the spotlight.

This will also be the first WTCS event to be held in France since the format's creation in 2009, marking an important step in the global expansion of high-level triathlon.

A joint commitment to the growth of triathlon

The announcement was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the PTO (Professional Triathletes Organization), World triathlon and French Triathlon Federation (FFTRI).

Following the success of Paris 2024, institutions are looking to capitalize on the rise of triathlon in France, creating a real legacy for the sports community.

According to Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon, this partnership reinforces the commitment to bringing triathlon to new audiences: “France has a very special relationship with this sport, and we are delighted to bring the WTCS to the heart of the Riviera.”

Sprint for the elite and the 100 km distance for the age groups

While the WTCS test will be held in a format Sprint, the T100 event will offer age groups the chance to tackle a course of 100 km (2 km swimming – 80 km cycling – 18 km running) with one of the most spectacular routes in the calendar.

The swimming will take place in the waters of the Mediterranean in front of the François Léotard Nature Base, in Fréjus.

The cycling segment will run for the first time through the Corniche d'Or, overlooking the Estérel massif and the Testanier Pass, before returning via Saint-Aygulf. A route that promises to delight all participants.

New schedule: the event moves to the end of August

The change in format and the integration of both circuits has forced the event, which was initially scheduled for June, to be moved.

Finally, it will be celebrated from August 30 to 31, 2025, being the fifth stop of the WTCS circuit, which this year will feature seven events plus the grand finale in Wollongong (Australia).

In addition, the organizers have also confirmed that the French Riviera T100 Triathlon It will feature amateur events in the Super Sprint distance, thus completing an inclusive program for all levels.

France and its Olympic legacy

The president of the FFTRI, Cedric Gosse, stressed the importance of this event: “Our athletes will have another opportunity to shine at home after Paris 2024. This event is part of our commitment to the Olympic legacy.”

For its part, Sam renouf, CEO of the PTO, highlighted the beauty of the route and the value of the shared experience: “We know the wait has been long, but the result will be worth it. This event will go down in triathlon history.”
