Gustav Iden delays his season start due to an ankle injury

Norwegian triathlete Gustav Iden has confirmed that he will not compete in HOMBRE DE HIERRO New Zealand and IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong after suffering an ankle sprain from which he has not yet fully recovered.

Iden had planned to open its calendar in Oceania, first in IRONMAN New Zealand (March 7) and then in IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong (March 22)However, the athlete himself has explained in social networksHe said he twisted his ankle a while ago and that the injury "is still not 100%."

The Norwegian has not detailed the exact extent of the sprain nor offered a specific recovery timeline. He has made it clear that it is a setback of "a few weeks," suggesting it is not a long-term injury, although it does affect his competitive start in 2026.

The ocean tour represented Iden's first competitive test of the year after a 2025 in which he once again proved competitive in long distance.
