Less than 100 days after being hit by a car in Japan, with six broken ribs, a punctured lung and a shattered left shoulder blade,

Hayden Wilde He competed and won again. He did it in a big way: raising his arms in the London T100, becoming the first triathlete (male or female) to score two wins in the series this year, following her success in Singapore in April.

That victory not only symbolized one of the greatest sporting comebacks of recent times, it also placed him as the provisional leader in the fight for the title of the T100 Triathlon World Tour, which includes the four best results plus the grand final in Qatar in December.

Double ambition: T100 and WTCS

The surprising thing is that Wilde isn't content with international middle distance. The New Zealander, a two-time Olympic medalist, still has hopes of winning the world championships for the first time. Triathlon World Series (WTCS).

In 2025, he only competed in one WTCS round, in Abu Dhabi, where he won, although the points system awarded him 750 instead of 1000 as it was a sprint distance. Meanwhile, matt hauser leads the standings with 2925 points thanks to two wins and a second place.

High-altitude duels in Frejus and Wollongong

To attempt the double, Wilde plans a calendar "to the Kristian Blummenfelt”: double weekends where he will compete in T100 and WTCS almost without a break.

The first will be in France (Frejus), with the T100 Riviera on August 30 and, just 25 hours later, the WTCS against its eternal rival Alex Yee, Olympic gold in Paris 2024.

The second will arrive in October, in Wollongong (Australia), where the WTCS Grand Final will be held one day before the local T100.

“Luckily, they are sprint events, and my body usually feels more affected from the third day onwards,” Wilde explained on the podcast. All In Triathlon, where he acknowledged that September will be “a diabolical month” with Karlovy Vary (September 14), the unknown of Valencia and the appointment of Weihai (September 26).

The challenge of the calendar and the frustration of the points

Wilde has expressed his dissatisfaction with the World Triathlon scoring system, recalling that he was already affected by a similar decision in 2023.

Even so, he's not giving up: "I need good races in Frejus and Karlovy Vary. If they don't work out, I might have to rethink the rest."

He also lamented that the once challenging and hilly Weihai course had now become completely flat, reducing the gap he could have made with his strong cycling segment.

IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella in November?

As if that weren't enough, Wilde has requested a special invitation to compete in the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 World Championship November 8th in Marbella. Last year he was second after Jelle Geens, but his injury prevented him from qualifying this season.

Everything points to 2025 being remembered as the year Hayden Wilde pushed his body and mind to the limit. With the T100, the WTCS, and perhaps a world championship, his schedule is a veritable marathon of challenges. And no one dares to rule him out anymore.
