The Ducal Palace in Gandia hosted the official presentation of the ICAN Triathlon 2025, which broke a historic participation record with 1.500 registered triathletes.

Valencia, October 15, 2025. The emblematic Ducal Palace of Gandia has been the chosen setting for the official presentation of the ICAN Triathlon 2025, the medium and long-distance event that will once again fill the Valencian coast with triathletes next weekend.
The event was attended by Jesus Naveiro, Sports Councillor of the Gandia City Council; Balbina Sendra, Councilor for Tourism; Louis Cervera, general director of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana; vanessa huesa, president of the Valencian Community Triathlon Federation; and Eduardo Izquierdo, commercial representative of Run&PRO.
Historic record and international projection
With 1.500 covered seats, the ICAN Triathlon reached its highest number since its inception. In fact, registrations sold out more than a year in advance and totaled 1.700 total records, from 23 nationalities.
5,5% of the participants will be foreigners, which makes the event the competition that attracts the most international athletes to the city.
Councilor for Sports, Jesus Naveiro, highlighted during the presentation that “ICAN Triathlon positions us in the world of triathlon, not only nationally but also in Europe. It's the event that brings the most foreign athletes to Gandia.".
Naveiro expressed his gratitude for the collaborative work of the organizers and the Tourism Department, emphasizing that this event "consolidates the Gandia brand as a benchmark in sports tourism."
Tourism and sport: a successful combination
For its part, Balbina Sendra, Councilor for Tourism, highlighted the positive impact of the event on the local economic fabric:
"ICAN Triathlon is part of Gandia's 365 agenda and represents an exemplary model of collaboration between tourism and sport.With more than 4.000 overnight stays generated between athletes and companions, the direct economic impact is around 800.000 Euros".
The triathletes began arriving in the province of Valencia on Monday, and most will settle in Gandia between Wednesday and Friday, with stays of between two and four nights, thus reinforcing local hotel occupancy.
Institutional support and cash prizes
During the act, Louis Cervera, Director General of Sports, thanked the council for its commitment to promoting Valencian sport, highlighting the consolidation of ICAN Triathlon as a national and international reference.
Likewise, vanessa huesa, president of the Valencian Community Triathlon Federation, highlighted that the test will close the calendar autonomic, being the venue for the regional long and medium distance championships, in addition to the events of aquabike.
As a novelty, this year the organization has increased the cash prizes, more than 10.000 Euros distributed among the categories Full and Half.
Weekend program
After a week marked by unstable weather, the event is preparing for three intense days of triathlon in the Gandia Beach.
On Friday, October 17, at 12:00 p.m., the Expo area and collection of bib numbers in the Port Square, with brands like Nutrisport, Brave Sportswear, ABMG Cycling, TuTriatlón, Mayuk, Atika y One.
El material control will be held between 17:00 p.m. and 21:00 p.m., while the Saturday will concentrate all the competitive action, with staggered starts from 8:00 a.m. to 9:47 a.m., and an open finish line until 23:30 p.m.

ICAN Triathlon Gandia: a classic on the national calendar
The event, consolidated as one of the great events of the national triathlon, combines careful organization, fast-paced routes and a unique atmosphere by the Mediterranean.
Its competition model —which mixes categories Full, Half, Shorts y Aquabike— allows both professionals and amateurs to enjoy an experience tailored to all levels.
The success of participation and institutional support confirm the sustained growth of ICAN Triathlon, a project that has managed to unite sport, tourism and community, positioning Gandia as one of the most important triathlon destinations in Spain.
