The 2nd Granada Geopark Challenge opens registration
The 2nd Granada Geopark Challenge will open registration this Wednesday, March 25th at 10:30 am and will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 in Huéscar, over a medium distance.
The test is part of the Granada Provincial Triathlon Circuit 2026 and it already appears on the calendar of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation like a triathlon middle distance, planned for May 24th 2026 in the province of Granada.
The departure time is set for 08 pm and registration will remain open until Monday, May 18 at 23:59 PMunless the bib numbers run out before then.
Huéscar takes over within the Geopark project
The opening of registration marks the real start of an event that aims to gain prominence within the Andalusian calendar.
This second edition of Half Triathlon Geopark will be held in Huescar and reinforces the idea with which the project was born: to gradually show different areas of Granada Geopark through rotating venues.
That approach was already present in the 2025 edition, contested under the name of Geopark Challenge Triathlon, a linear format test that covered several municipalities in the territory and served as a starting point for a competition with its own personality within the Andalusian triathlon.
Now, in 2026, the event takes another step forward with a more defined proposal of middle distance, maintaining the scenic value of the area and opting for a demanding route in the north of the province of Granada.

The test will maintain a demanding format, with 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 75 kilometers of cycling, and 21 kilometers of running.

On paper, it looks like a race that demands excellent effort management. It doesn't seem like a middle-distance triathlon where you can just focus on watts or your watch. The terrain can make a significant difference here, especially on the cycling leg.

The organization has also announced Discount for those who participated in the 11th Guadix City Triathlon, a formula with which it seeks to reward loyalty within the provincial circuit.
This incentive could accelerate the pace of registrations from day one, especially among Andalusian triathletes who usually plan their middle-distance goals in advance in the spring.
A race that aims to establish itself on the Andalusian calendar
