The next Sunday October 5, Calella (El Maresme – Barcelona) will once again welcome thousands of triathletes in the eleventh edition of the HOMBRE DE HIERRO® Calella – Barcelona, one of the most recognized long-distance races in Europe.
This year will feature 3.200 participants who will face the 3,8 km swim, 180 km in bike and the final marathon along the Catalan coast.
The expectation has been maximum: the numbers sold out last April 1, six months before the starting gun, marking a historical sold out recordIn 2024, the venue was fully booked on July 1st, so the 2025 edition confirms the growing appeal of this event.
Event declared of public interest
The IRONMAN Calella – Barcelona has been declared in 2025 as “Event of Exceptional Public Interest” by the Government of Spain (Royal Decree-Law 8/2025, published in the Official State Gazette on July 9). This recognition highlights its sporting, economic, and social impact, consolidating Calella as a leading destination for sports tourism and international triathlon.
The event attracts not only triathletes but also their families and companions, with a direct impact on the area's hospitality, retail, and tourism industries.

The event is especially attractive to foreign triathletes. This 2025, the 90% of those registered come from outside Spain, with United Kingdom at the top (24%). France, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy complete the main countries of origin.
Furthermore, the strong presence of debutants stands out: 50% will face their first long-distance triathlon in Calella, while 15% are repeaters who relive the experience of crossing the finish line in front of the Mediterranean.
