Next Sunday September 14, Nice will once again be the epicenter of world triathlon with the celebration of the World championship HOMBRE DE HIERRO closet.

This will be the last time the race is held on the French Riviera, as both men and women will once again compete in Kona starting in 2026.

In Game: 6.000 points for the Pro Series classification y 375.000 dollars in prizes, with 125.000 for the winner.

Four world champions in the same race

the reigning champion Patrick Lange He arrives wearing the number 1 jersey. The German, a three-time title winner, has barely competed this year due to injury, but in Nice he will be looking for his fourth title.

Will also be Sam Laidlow, who was crowned champion on the French Riviera in 2023, becoming the youngest player in history to do so. The Frenchman is making a strong start after winning in July. Challenge Roth and IRONMAN Leeds.

The Norwegians Kristian Blummenfelt (2021 champion) and Gustav Iden (2022 champion) completes the list of former champions. Blummenfelt arrives as the most solid man of the year after winning in Texas, Frankfurt, and Aix-en-Provence. Iden, meanwhile, appears to be returning to his best form with a fourth-place finish in Frankfurt as a warning.

The candidates who want to surprise

The list of favorites is extensive. The Danish Magnus ditlev, winner in South Africa, and the American Rudy von berg, always regular, start with numbers #2 and #3.

The French Léon chevalier, leader of the Pro Series, also appears in the lineup alongside the emerging American Matthew Marquardt, double winner in Cairns and Lake Placid.

Another prominent name is that of Sam long, who spent the summer in Italy preparing for the Nice mountain circuit. And keep an eye on the newcomers to the short distance: the Belgian Marten Van Riel and the German Jonas Schomburg, both Olympians in Paris.

Two Spaniards in battle: Antonio Benito and Jordi Montraveta

Spain will have double representation in Nice. Antonio Benito, number 40, will compete in his second World Championship after his debut in Kona 2024 (20th). The La Mancha native already finished second this year in Texas, only beaten by Blummenfelt, and arrives with confidence.

This weekend he competes in the T100 of Saint-Raphaël as the last pre-test.
For its part, Jordi Montraveta (dorsal 52) will fulfill the dream of making his debut in an IRONMAN World Championship.

He arrives after a great season: 3rd at the Embrunman and 2nd in Lanzarote, where he secured his qualification.

A historic edition

With four former champions, names on a roll, and star rookies, the Nice 2025 race promises to be one of the most open in recent years.

It will also mark the farewell to the men's World Cup in France before returning to Kona.
