IRONMAN Valdivia: Chile will host its first full IRONMAN in 2026.
The city of Valdivia, in the heart of southern Chile, has been confirmed as the first Chilean venue to host a test HOMBRE DE HIERRO full distance.
The race will be held on November 29th 2026, sharing the date and stage with the already established IRONMAN 70.3 Valdivia, in what will be a historic weekend for Latin American triathlon.
Valdivia, a natural film set
Located in the Los Ríos region, Valdivia is known for its unique blend of rivers, native forests, colonial architecture, and German heritage.
This combination of natural landscapes and cultural richness offers a perfect setting for both the sporting event and the experience of the athletes and their companions.
A route designed to fly... and enjoy
The IRONMAN Valdivia will have the regulatory distances:
- 3,8 km of swimming in the calm Calle-Calle River,
- 180 km of cycling on roads in the rural area of Valdivia,
- and 42,2 km of running along the Waterfront and the city center.
Fernanda Castro, race director of the event and representative of World Centric Group, emphasized that Valdivia offers a fast circuit, ideal for personal bests, but without sacrificing the scenic views: “Athletes will find a perfect blend of wild nature, history, and tradition.”
The IRONMAN experience reaches its full version
Since 2016, Chile has hosted IRONMAN 70.3 events in various regions. However, this will be the first primera vez that a full IRONMAN (140.6 miles) be held in the country.
The event will award qualifying places for the IRONMAN World Championship 2027 in Kona (Hawaii), making it a key event for triathletes from across the continent.
A global impact with local flavor
Joanna Jordan, vice president of IRONMAN Latin America, emphasized that the choice of Valdivia reflects the warm reception the 70.3 has received in previous editions: “The community has demonstrated a genuine passion for this sport, and that guarantees that the debut of the full IRONMAN will be unforgettable for everyone.”
