Juanan Fernández, recognized at the Avriga Fvscvs Awards for his contribution to triathlon and sports tourism
Juanan Fernández has been recognized at the Avriga Fvscvs 2025 Awards for his career in promoting triathlon and sports tourism in Salou, where he directs the Challenge Salou and serves as Quality Director of Challenge Family in Europe.

The award, promoted by the City Council of Salou and delivered by the Consell Esportiu del Tarragones, highlights its role in the international projection of the city through sport, especially triathlon.
During the event, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, highlighted “the enormous contribution of Juanan and his team in consolidating Salou as a European benchmark for sports tourism and international triathlon.”
Fernández has been at the head of the Challenge Salou, one of the most emblematic tests of the calendar European, which celebrated its tenth edition in 2025, bringing together more than a thousand triathletes from forty countries and generating a notable economic impact on the Costa Daurada.
In addition, he is part of the international team of Challenge Family, where he has been working as a Quality Director for Europe, overseeing standards of excellence in events held in Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, and the Netherlands, thus ensuring an optimal experience for thousands of athletes.
"This recognition is shared with the entire team, with Salou City Council, and with the hundreds of volunteers and sponsors who have always believed in the project.
"Sport has enormous power to transform territories and generate pride of belonging," Fernández said during his speech.
The recognition coincides with a new stage for the Challenge SalouAfter a decade of sustained growth, the test has incorporated Wefeel Events to its organizational structure.
The Catalan company, also responsible for the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon, will provide additional resources and experience with the aim of further consolidating the Salou event as one of the major triathlons on the international calendar.
