What IRONMAN South Africa 2025 has left us

Marten Van Riel sets marathon record
Although Van Riel finished second, he also made his mark on this year's IRONMAN South Africa.

Anne Reischmann breaks the women's cycling record
In the women's category, the German Anne Reichmann She dominated the race with an extraordinary performance on the bike. Reischmann broke the women's cycling segment record previously held by the legendary Chrissie Wellington since 2011, reducing it by more than three minutes.

Qualified for Nice and Kona 2025
As an African Championship, IRONMAN South Africa awarded direct places to the World Championships in Nice (men) and Kona (women). The triathletes who qualified in South Africa are:
- Men: Magnus Ditlev, Marten Van Riel, Jonas Schomburg, Jonas Hoffmann and Jamie Riddle
- Women: Katrine Graesboell Christensen, Laura Jansen, Maja Stage Nielsen, Jana Uderstadt and Charlene Clavel
These athletes will compete in their respective IRONMAN World Championships later this year.

Ditlev's post-race statements
Ditlev highlighted the difficult day due to the wind, describing the race as “brutal and honest.”
He also acknowledged that he felt exhausted at the end of the marathon, something he attributed to running too fast a pace during the first half. However, he expressed satisfaction with starting the year with a victory and qualifying for the World Championships in Nice.
