The IRONMAN Pro Series returns to Lake Placid with Marta Sánchez as the star.
On Sunday, July 20, the historic town of Lake Placid, in the heart of the Adirondacks of New York, will once again be the scene of a world-class event: the Athletic Brewing HOMBRE DE HIERRO Lake Placid 2025.
The appointment, which is part of the circuit IRONMAN Pro Series, will bring together more than 80 professional triathletes who will compete for 5.000 points, $125.000 in prizes ycFour slots per gender for the IRONMAN World Championships: Kona for women and Nice for men.
Marta Sánchez, sixth in the IRONMAN Pro Series rankings, makes her debut in America
One of the big news will be the presence of the Spanish Marta Sanchez, which lands on North American soil for the first time after a brilliant start to the season.
The Catalan rider achieved a spectacular second place at the ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa in March, which has put her in sixth place in the Pro Series standings.
Now, Sánchez faces the demanding Lake Placid course with the goal of scoring key points and, why not, securing one of the spots for Kona 2025, where the Women's IRONMAN World Championship will be held.
Her progress this year and her versatile profile make her a rival to be reckoned with.
A luxury women's lineup with champions, podium finishes, and stellar debuts
The American Danielle lewis, the reigning champion in Lake Placid, will be back looking to repeat her triumph. She currently sits fourth in the Pro Series standings.
His main threat will be his compatriot Jackie Hering, who was already runner-up in this event and is coming off a victory in Cairns (Australia) last June.
Also noteworthy is the British full-distance debut Holly Lawrence, IRONMAN 70.3 world champion in 2016, who returns to competition after becoming a mother in 2024.
The cast is completed by names like Solveig Lovseth (Norway), Lotte Wilms (Netherlands), the champion of New Zealand Regan Hollioake, the Danish Maja Stage Nielsen or the American veteran Sarah True, winner here in 2022.
Foley, Wurf and Marquardt headline the powerful men's lineup
In the men's race, the number 1 jersey will be worn by the young American Trevor foley, who achieved a memorable victory in 2024 with a marathon time of 2:36:31.
At his side will be triathletes of enormous level such as Matthew Marquardt (second here last year and winner in Cairns 2025), the veteran Matt Hanson, or the versatile Australian Cameron Wurf, current second place in the Pro Series.
In addition, Danish is added Kristian Høgenhaug, following his excellent second place at the IRONMAN Frankfurt. And the Frenchman will not be missing Leon chevalier, along with the New Zealand tandem formed by Braden Currie y Mike Phillips, the Italian Mattias Ceccarelli, the South African Bradley Weiss, the Danish Daniel Bækkegård, Swedish robert callin and the local Colin Schuch. Without a doubt, a world-class poster.
