The Belgian triathlete Marten Van Riel continues his unstoppable streak in the middle distance after winning with authority in the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 from Nice.
With this new triumph, Marten Van Riel keeps his perfect streak in the middle distance, already adding five consecutive victories in IRONMAN 70.3 events.
His dominance began in dubai 2022, continued in Bahrain 2023 y Cozumel 2024, and is consolidated in 2025 with its performance in NiceEvery time he's started this distance, he's crossed the finish line as the winner, making it clear that he's the triathlete to beat in the 70.3m.
A domain that is beginning to make its mark
Despite coming out of the water in fourth place after a fast swim without a wetsuit in 26°C temperatures, Van Riel quickly took control. In the cycling segment, he set the pace from the first kilometers. Although Michele Bortolamedi (Italy) and Valdemar Solock (Denmark) tried to follow him, the Belgian opened a gap of 1:40 halfway through the course.
By the time he reached T2, the lead was already 3 minutes y 40 seconds, a difference that allowed him to comfortably face the final half marathon. He stopped the clock at 4:01:48, almost three minutes ahead of the second-place finisher.
