Mediterranean Triathlon kicks off in Alicante with record participation
MTRI Alicante 2026 opened the Mediterranean Triathlon circuit with all places filled, nearly 1.600 entries and outstanding victories in the sprint, Olympic and supersprint distances.
The Alicante race marked the start of a new edition of the circuit with a weekend of high participation and popular atmosphere, despite the fact that the rain affected Friday afternoon during the collection of bib numbers.
The organization had to suspend the planned face-to-face briefing for triathletes, a meeting especially useful for registered athletes and newcomers, where doubts about routes, transitions and key points of the competition are resolved.

Prada, junior world champion of cross duathlon in Pontevedra 2025, decided the race on the run and overtook his teammate Hugo Edo. The third place went to Izan Cremades, from the CD Triaspe, after a solid comeback in the final stretch.

The family duathlon doubles participation
The first day concluded with the family events, one of the blocks that best reflects the growth of popular triathlon within the circuit.

In the female category, the victory was for Zahira Alegre Navarro, from the CDT T3 resistance, with a time of 2:20:26. The second place was for Ewa Urbanska, from the Tryathlon Tyczynski, with 2:22:13, and the third for Carla Tortós-Sala, with 2:26:27.
