Pontevedra closes the best Multisport World Cup in history
From June 20 to 29, the Galician city of Pontevedra It became the epicenter of world triathlon by hosting the World Triathlon Multisport Championships 2025, already considered by many to be the best Multisport World Cup in history.
10 days of excitement with record participation
For ten intense days, almost 4.000 athletes from 44 countries They competed in seven disciplines: Sprint and standard duathlon, cross-country triathlon, cross-country duathlon, aquathlon, long-distance triathlon, and aquabike.
The edition has also made history for being the one that has had greater female participation (31%) since these championships were held.
Tribute to the “Legends” and the new champions
On the final day, after the medal presentation of the new world champions long distance and aquabike, an emotional tribute was held for the 20 “Legends”: triathletes who have completed all the championship events.
An international farewell with a local flavor
The closing ceremony brought together key figures in triathlon such as José Hidalgo (president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation), Antonio Alvarez (Vice President of World Triathlon) and the mayor Miguel Anxo Fernandez Lores.
In a symbolic act, the World Triathlon flag was handed over to the representatives of Abu Dhabi, host of the next Multisport World Cup 2026, which will be held on the island of Hudayriyat.

The final celebration took place in the Plaza de España with live performances, including the group Liorta, led by the former triathlete Javier Gómez Noya, and the band Broken Peach, putting the finishing touch to an unforgettable week.
