The Andalusian, who burst onto the scene in 2024 by becoming the Spanish long-distance champion at the Mediterranean Epic Triathlon, believes that the time has come to close a chapter that has profoundly marked him.
Five years of learning and a degree that changed his life
Paco became known at just 23 years old when he won the Spanish Long Distance Championship 2024becoming the youngest national champion in the history of the event. That success propelled him to the professional scene, although the journey was not easy.
His debut as a PRO in HOMBRE DE HIERRO Lake Placid It ended in retirement, and from then on he suffered several DNFs that affected his confidence. In his farewell, Paco explains that triathlon has given him "everything": a direction in life, friendships he considers family, and moments he never imagined when he debuted in his first triathlon after the pandemic.
He also admits to having lived through tough times, marked by doubts and frustration, but emphasizes that he only keeps "learnings and positive things".
A turning point: from triathlon to gravel cycling
Lacking the motivation to continue developing as a triathlete, the Sevillian is now embarking on a new sporting chapter. He confessed that cycling was always the sport where he felt most talented and which he truly enjoyed.
Therefore, he has decided to focus entirely on the gravel, a modality in which he wants to rediscover his enthusiasm for training and competing.
