Patrick Lange: His adductor is holding back his 2025 season.

The 38-year-old triathlete has confirmed that he is still unable to train normally for running.

A season hampered from the start
Lange began the year already hampered by discomfort. The first warning sign came before IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside, where he competed through pain and finished 17th. After several medical tests, the diagnosis was confirmed: adductor tendonitis.
As a preventative measure, he withdrew from competing in IRONMAN Texas and has since focused all his efforts on recovery.

The mental challenge of not giving up

“Balancing training load and a positive mindset is proving difficult right now.”

On the horizon: the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice
The big question is whether Patrick Lange He will be able to arrive in time for the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice in September. He is expected to defend his title in 2024, following his previous victories in Kona (2017 and 2018).
If he succeeds, Lange would become a four-time world champion and further cement his position as one of the greatest triathletes in history.

Lange's comeback isn't just threatened by his injury. He's also lost one of his most iconic records: the fastest marathon in an IRONMAN.
His time of 2:30:27 in Challenge Roth 2023 has recently been surpassed by Manoel Messias, who clocked 2:26:50 at the IRONMAN Brazil 2025, becoming the first to go under 2:30 in a full Ironman.
