Pontevedra prepares for the best Multisport World Championship in history

More than 4.000 triathletes will compete in the World Championships between June 20 and 29.

From 20 to 29 June 2025, the Galician city of Pontevedra It will become the epicenter of triathlon with the dispute of the World Triathlon Multisport Championships, an event that will bring together more than 4.000 elite and age-group athletes from more than 60 countries.

This world championship will host six disciplines:

  • Duathlon (June 21)
  • Cros Triathlon (June 24)
  • Duathlon Cros (June 26)
  • Aquathlon (June 27)
  • Aquabike (June 29)
  • Long Distance Triathlon (June 29)

A unique environment to compete

All the tests will take place in the city, taking advantage of emblematic points such as the Tirantes Bridge, the Lerez river or the surroundings of the stadium.

The Cross Country events (Triathlon and Duathlon) will be held at the reservoir of Pontillon do Castro, in Verducido, where the routes have already been tested and are considered some of the most spectacular in the calendar.

Beyond sport: music, art and diversity

During the ten days of the championship, Pontevedra will offer a parallel agenda that includes:

  • Music and outdoor performance festival
  • Triathlon Expo
  • Art biennale
  • Pride and Diversity Celebrations
  • Guided tours of the province
  • Parade of Nations and opening and closing ceremony, with a special performance by the rock group Javier Gómez Noya

Javier Gómez Noya, luxury host

The five-time world champion and illustrious resident of the city, Javier Gómez Noya, will be an ambassador for the World Cup.

He will be present at several official events and will play a prominent role in the event's closing ceremony. He could also be seen cheering on the long-distance participants, a discipline in which he won the 2019 world championship in this same city.
