Spanish Duathlon Championship Avilés 2026: 1.800 athletes
The Spanish Duathlon Championship Avilés 2026 will bring together more than 1.800 athletes on March 28 and 29 in Avilés, with cadet, youth and junior events, as well as the National Talent Clubs League.
The event will once again make the Asturian city one of the major centers of national duathlon at the start of spring.
Avilés will once again be a key name on the national calendar this weekend. The city will host the event on March 28th and 29th. Spanish Cadet, Youth and Junior Duathlon Championship, along with the third day of the National League of Triathlon Talent Clubs of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.
This program also includes the Spanish Duathlon Championship for Mixed Talent Relay, the 13th Avilés Duathlon, the Asturias Championship 2026 and a qualifying event for the National Ranking.
The epicenter of the event will be in the plaza of the Cultural Center Oscar Niemeyerwith running and cycling routes around the Avilés estuary. It's not just any venue. Avilés has been linked to this discipline for over a decade and, year after year, has established itself as one of the most recognizable locations for duathlon in Spain.
Schedule and events of the Spanish Duathlon Championship in Avilés 2026
The day on Saturday, March 28th will begin with the Spanish Cadet, Youth and Junior Duathlon Championship in the SuperSprint distance. Qualifying heats for each category will begin at 10:00. Following that, the finals will take place: the cadets at 16:00, the youth at 16:45, and the juniors at 17:30.
The action will continue on Sunday, March 29th, starting at 10:00 AM with the Spanish Junior Duathlon Championship in the Sprint distance. It will be one of the most anticipated events of the weekend, because it completes the individual block of the championship and usually provides clear indications of the level of the best national prospects.
That same Saturday, starting at 18:30 p.m., the 13th Avilés Duathlon, which will also be Asturias Duathlon Championship and a qualifying event for the National Ranking. In other words, the program isn't limited to youth competitions. The city will have a very full schedule, with competitive activity throughout much of the weekend.
Mixed talent relays and National Club League
The event will also be held on Sunday, March 29th. Spanish Duathlon Mixed Relay Talent Championship 2026This corresponds to the third day of the Triathlon Talent League. Clubs will participate in this competition with teams made up of two female and two male duathletes, each completing a SuperSprint duathlon before handing over the reins.
It's a particularly spectacular race. The format tends to tighten the gaps considerably and forces competitors to push themselves to the limit from the very first leg. It also counts towards the league standings, so the interest extends beyond just fighting for the day's medals.
Pho3nix Kids, Amazonian Leaders and parallel activities
The weekend will also include a program promoting grassroots sports. On Saturday, the first event of the national circuit will be held in the plaza of the Niemeyer Center. Pho3nix Kids Triathlon Series by Javier Gómez Noya 2026, with departures from 14:00 PM for pre-Benjamin, Benjamin, Alevín and Infantil categories.
