This past weekend, Rich Bogen He proved once again that his victory was not just a one-day affair. His victory in the 70.3 IRONMAN 2023 World Championship surprised many, but what happened this Saturday in T100 San Francisco 2025 It has been the confirmation that the young German is ready to do great things.

On the mythical circuit of Escape From Alcatraz, the 24-year-old German got his first victory on the prestigious circuit of the PTO, beating rivals like Jelle Geens o Jamie riddle thanks to an exhibition on the bike which is already going around the world.

394W of normalized power: the key to success

After completing the swim in the lead group, Bogen launched a devastating attack in the opening kilometers of the 80km bike race and never looked back. The result: 1:54:50 on the bike, rolling at an average of 41 km/h and reaching peaks of 84 km/h with an average cadence of 88 rpm.

But the most impressive thing is the numbers: 374W average power and 394W normalized power (NP). Records that allowed him to start the race on foot with a two-minute advantage over his pursuers and which he maintained until crossing the finish line in 3:15:53.

Riddle and Greens tried… but it wasn't enough

Jamie riddle was the second best cyclist of the day with 1:56:40, moving 358w of NP, while the reigning world champion HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 Jelle Geens, stayed at 321w during the 1:57:44 it took to complete the bike.

Both commented on Bogen's attack on the podcast. All In Triathlon“You moved at the end of the climb, I tried to follow you… but you disappeared,” confessed Geens, who finished second after cutting time on foot with a very fast 59:40.

How many watts does it take to win?

Bogen's performance has reopened the eternal debate about the watts in professional triathlon. Personalities like Talbot cox, Rudy von berg y Justin Clough have commented on the play on social media:

“320W of NP is plenty if you're a smart rider with good CDA,” Clough noted, making it clear that it's not just a matter of raw power, but also aerodynamics and strategy.

Bogen, with his 80 kg, moved on a threshold that seems to mark a new reference in the T100. Are we facing a new standard?

Bogen and the Promising Future of Triathlon

What happened in San Francisco wasn't just another victory for Rico Bogen; it was a resounding statement of intent.

Although he had already finished third in this same event in 2024, his performance this year has reached a new level. The notable improvement compared to last year (when he clocked 1:59:37 in the cycling segment with 380W NP) demonstrates the constant progress of an athlete who never ceases to amaze.
