World Triathlon unveils WTCS 2026 calendar and T100 circuit updates

The 2026 season will bring major changes to world triathlon, with new venues in the calendar of the World Series (WTCS) and a revamped T100 World Tour format.
World Triathlon has announced a comprehensive calendar for 2026 that will mark the start of the qualifying cycle towards the Olympics Los Angeles 2028.
The season will start in Abu Dhabi at the end of March and will end in Pontevedra, which will once again host the Grand Final in September.
The 2026 World Series: New Venues and Return of Classics
La World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) will visit 10 iconic cities. Following the opening in Abu Dhabi (March 27), the second date will arrive in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) at the end of April, before the traditional stops in Yokohama, Alghero and the new French headquarters of Quiberon in June.
In summer, Hamburg will repeat as the venue for the Mixed Relay World Championship, followed by the expected return from London to the calendar, its first appearance since 2015.
The Asian tour will close the year with races in Weihai (China) y Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic), before the Grand Final in Pontevedra (Spain) from the 24 to the 27 for September.

Mixed relays and World Cups
There will be three Mixed Relay Series (Abu Dhabi, Alghero and Quiberon) and three Mixed Relay Cups (Chengdu, Edmonton and Rome), in addition to the World Cup in Hamburg.
The World Cups They will also grow with new locations such as Rio de Janeiro, Asunción, Tauranga, Edmonton and Jeddah, consolidating the global expansion of triathlon.
Para Triathlon Calendar
La Paratriathlon World Series will include Devonport, Yokohama, Montreal and Hamburg, with the World Championship in Pontevedra, which will make the Galician city the epicenter of inclusive triathlon in 2026.
The 2026 T100: revamped format and larger prize pool
For its part, the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO) y World triathlon have confirmed important changes at the T100 Triathlon World Tour 2026, which will have nine tests with revised format.
Men and women will compete in four individual events each one before meeting in the Doha Grand Final (Qatar). Only the three best results plus the final will count towards the world title.
In addition, seasonal contracts are eliminated and a transition to a ranking classification system, which will allow greater flexibility for triathletes. Each event will distribute $275.000, with $50.000 for the winner and a total of 1,45 million in global awards.
First confirmed venues

- Vancouver (Canada): August 15–16
The other six races will be announced in the coming weeks, but destinations in the Middle East and Europe are expected to participate.
La Qatar Grand Final will crown the champions of the “T100 Race to Doha” on December 12–13.
London, WTCS + T100 dual stage
One of the big news will be London, where the weekend of July 25-26, 2026 will combine a WTCS event with the amateur T100 race, which will maintain its format of 100 km (2 km swimming, 80 km cycling, 18 km running), along with Olympic distances, sprints and relays.
Official statements
The President of World Triathlon, Antonio F. Arimany, emphasized that “having a full schedule confirmed so soon demonstrates the strength of the sport and the confidence of our partners. This will allow athletes and teams to plan ahead and will strengthen each event in the Series.”
For his part, the CEO of the PTO, Sam renouf, explained that the changes "seek a balance between spectacle, competitiveness, and viability, ensuring more compact, exciting, and sustainable races for all audiences."
