The Santander City Triathlon 2026 now has a date: it will be held on September 20th
El Santander City Triathlon has officially announced its date for 2026. The race, one of the most prestigious in northern Spain, will return the 20th September 2026 with two formats: Olympic distance and middle distance, maintaining its start and finish in the vicinity of Gamazo Dam and Zaera Dune.
The swimming, cycling, and running maintain their urban character, with technical sections, emblematic areas of the city, and constant passages along the sea, making this event a must-do for many national triathletes.
Swimming: two fast courses on ebb tide
The organization has confirmed that the swimming (1.500m Olympic and 1.900m middle distance) will take place with the tide going out, which will reduce currents and facilitate a smoother course.
Cycling: urban circuit closed to traffic
The cycling events —40 km for the Olympic distance and 80 km for the middle distance— take place on a route completely closed to traffic, passing through iconic areas such as the cupcake, Queen Victoria, Plaza Italy, small port, Pereda, Calderón Pier and the interior of Port of Santander.
Running: steady pace through downtown and the bay
The race takes place on a flat, out-and-back circuit, skirting the bay and passing through Castelar, Pereda, Centro Botín, Puerto Chico and the CAR de Vela (High Performance Sailing Center).
- 10,5 km (Olympic) → 3 laps.
- 21 km (middle distance) → 6 laps.
