The Seville Triathlon 2026 changes date
The Seville Triathlon 2026 will finally take place on Sunday, June 7th, after the date change announced by the organizers, who were forced to move the event due to its coinciding with the Andalusian Regional Elections.
The appointment was initially scheduled for the May 17th 2026The event had opened registration in January, but this Thursday the organizers announced the postponement and confirmed that the route and the nerve center of the race will remain in the vicinity of Navigation Pavilion.
The 2026 edition had been presented as the most urban of the event, with its epicenter in the heart of Seville.
Date change for the Seville Triathlon 2026: what happened
The reason for the change is not related to internal sporting or organizational issues.
According to the organization, the coincidence with the Andalusian Regional Elections It directly affects the development of the test, since the Navigation Pavilion It serves as the central headquarters for the electoral operation, and the entire area is cordoned off for security reasons.
That point is not insignificant. In this edition, the Seville Triathlon had redesigned a large part of its course to bring the competition closer to the city center and concentrate the athlete's experience in a very specific area of the route.
Changing the venue with only two months' notice, with all the permits, circuits, and logistics that entails, was a very complicated option. Therefore, the final decision was to keep the original location and move the event to [location missing]. 7 June 2026 Sunday.
The measure alters the schedule, but avoids dismantling an edition that sought to reinforce the event's identity in one of the city's most recognizable spaces.
New date and new time for the Seville race
Along with the change of day, the organization has also introduced a time adjustment. The first departure will be at 8:00 in the morning, one hour earlier than initially planned, and the rest of the departures will be brought forward in that same time frame.
It's a practical change, though significant for those already preparing for the trip or the race day. In popular events like this, shifting the schedule by an hour can affect warm-ups, family logistics, travel, and even pre-race nutrition plans. Therefore, the announcement not only requires a review of schedules but also a redo of some weekend plans.
Even so, the organization's message is quite clear: preserve the format designed for 2026 and make as few changes as possible beyond that date.
What options do registered participants have after the postponement?
The organization has announced that those who cannot attend on the new date can request the refund of registration fee.
To do so, they must request it within the period indicated in the official statement, by writing to the email address ppgad@pucrs.br.
