TRITON World Finals 2025: Portimão hosts the grand final with two unique formats

From 24 to 26 October 2025, the city of Portimão, in the Portuguese Algarve, will be the setting for the TRITON World Final, an international event that breaks the mold in triathlon.
With two competition formats —TRITON 1 y TRITON 3—, triathletes will be able to choose how to experience it, whether in a single day or spreading the disciplines out over an entire weekend.
TRITON 1 and TRITON 3: two paths to the same goal
The format TRITON 1 It is the most classic: all disciplines in a single day, in the style of a conventional triathlon.
The difference is that athletes have the freedom to “mix & match”, that is, combining distances and creating a tailor-made test based on your goals.
On the other hand, the format TRITON 3 divides the triathlon into three stages:
- Day 1: Swimming
- Day 2: Cycling
- Day 3: Running
This way, each sport has its own unique role to play, and the athlete can better manage their strategy and effort over the course of three intense days of competition.
Distances and categories
Participants will be able to choose between three official distances in either of the two formats:
- SPRINT
- MIDDLE
- LONG
Each with its own unique requirements and cut-off times, designed to suit both beginners and those seeking a total endurance challenge.
Ranking and classification
TRITON has a world ranking which adds points from all the season's events. The best men and women in each distance, as well as the outstanding corporate teams, gain direct access to the final.
A key fact: the Portimão Final awards triple score in the ranking, which could be decisive in becoming champion of the year.

How to get your place
There are two ways to ensure participation in Portimão:
- Direct classification in any official TRITON event (TRITON 1 or TRITON 3) held at least one month before the final.
- Limited open spaces, intended for participants from previous editions and those who wish to register directly.
