Lanzarote will host a World Triathlon World Cup in 2026

World Triathlon has officially announced calendar international competitions for the 2026 season, with a highlight in Spain: the Lanzarote – Costa Teguise Triathlon World Cup, which will take place on March 14, 2026.
The race will be part of the official World Cup circuit and will mark one of the first major international events of the year.
Lanzarote opens the World Cup season
The Lanzarote – Costa Teguise World Cup is situated at a key moment in the calendar, right at the start of the season. This will allow many elite triathletes and young talents to accumulate important points from the beginning of the competitive season.
For years, Lanzarote has been a popular training destination for international triathletes. Its stable climate, volcanic roads, wind, and organizational expertise make the island a highly valued location within the world of triathlon.
For this reason, its entry into the World Cup circuit reinforces World Triathlon's commitment to established venues with their own identity.
Spain strengthens its presence on the international calendar
Beyond Lanzarote, Spain will have a prominent presence on the 2026 international calendar, both in World Triathlon and European Triathlon competitions. The country will host top-level events in elite, paratriathlon, youth, and age-group categories.
Among the most important competitions are the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) of Pontevedra, which will be held from September 24 to 27, 2026, and the Paratriathlon World ChampionshipAlso in Pontevedra on those same dates. A double event that will position the Galician city as one of the major centers of world triathlon that year.
At the European level, the following stand out: European Triathlon Championship in Tarragona, the Europe Triathlon Multisport Championships in Banyoles, as well as several European Cups distributed among Torremolinos, Ceuta, Tenerife and Melilla.
A WTCS calendar distributed worldwide
The 2026 WTCS circuit will once again feature ten venues spread across different continents. The season will kick off in Abu Dhabi on March 27 and will visit classic locations such as Yokohama, Hamburg, and London, as well as new stops like Alghero and Karlovy Vary.
The grand final will take place in Pontevedraconsolidating Spain as a key venue for the world championship.
There will also be a specific calendar of mixed relays, with events in Abu Dhabi, Alghero, Hamburg or Rome, maintaining the importance of this modality which is already Olympic.
World Cups, paratriathlon and multisport
The World Cup calendar will be particularly extensive in 2026, with events running from March to December. In addition to Lanzarote, there will be races in France, China, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and New Zealand, offering competition opportunities on virtually every continent.
In paratriathlon, the season will include series and cups from March to November, with the World Championships in Pontevedra as one of the year's main objectives. Meanwhile, multisport competitions will once again take center stage with winter championships, duathlons, and combined events.
The T100 consolidates its global expansion
The calendar also includes the tests of T100 Triathlon World Tour, which in 2026 will once again visit destinations such as Gold Coast, Singapore, San Francisco or the French Riviera.
Spain will be represented with the test of Pamplona, scheduled for May 23 and 24. The season will conclude with the grand final in Qatar in December.
A key year for international triathlon
The 2026 calendar confirms a balanced structure, with competitions spread throughout the year and all over the world.
For Spain, this represents a new boost as an international benchmark venue, with top-level events that will attract the best triathletes on the planet and thousands of fans.
