Next Sunday 31 August, the French Riviera debuts as the venue for the Triathlon World Series (WTCS) with a sprint test that promises to mark a before and after in the season.
With 1.000 points in play, the race comes at a key moment: there are three more events remaining, plus the finals in Wollongong, to decide the world title.
Hauser, solid leader of the ranking
The Australian matt hauser He arrives in France as number one in the rankings, with two golds and two silvers so far in 2025.
With nearly 300 points ahead of the Brazilian Miguel Hidalgo and 430 on Portuguese Basque Vilaça, the Aussie is proving unstoppable, especially in the running sections, where only Wilde and Hidalgo have managed to beat him this year.
Wilde looks for the double
The New Zealander Hayden Wilde returns in top form after his bike accident at the beginning of the season.
After shining in the London T100, is now aiming for a historic double: winning both the T100 circuit and the WTCS in the same month. He'll start from 18th place, which will require him to fight back from the opening few meters.
The return of Alex Yee
The current world and Olympic champion, Alex Yee, has not yet competed in 2025.
His debut in the London Marathon kept him out of the season opener, but he comes with a guarantee: a 5K on track in 13:13 signed in Belgium a few weeks ago.
Starting from 39th place, the Briton will have to be at his best to catch up with the leading group and keep his title defense alive.
A new circuit with unknowns
The WTCS French Riviera will debut a new course: 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run in a spectacular setting next to the Mediterranean.
For Hauser, the goal will be to open a gap alongside Hidalgo y Chase mcqueen in the water and consolidate the bike break. From there, everything will be decided in the final 5 km on foot.
How to follow the test live
The men's competition can be watched live on Sunday, August 31, starting at 14:45 p.m. (Spanish time) en Triathlon Live.tv.
