Spanish Duathlon Championship 2026: María Varo and Jarno Pousada champions
The 2026 Spanish Duathlon Championship crowned María Varo and Jarno Pousada as national champions in Cáceres, in the elite event held on February 28th and a prelude to the 2027 European Championship.
Cáceres hosted the major national sprint distance event with two high-level races that kept the excitement high until the very end. The day also kicked off the national duathlon weekend, which continues with Age Group and Junior categories.
María Varo wins her fourth consecutive title
In the female category, María Varo, from the Tri Infinity Móstoles, he once again imposed his pace to take the title with a time of 59:00.
From the first 5K, a leading quartet formed with Noelia Juan, Ana Carballo y Marina MuñozThe four made their mark in the cycling segment and consolidated an advantage of more than two minutes over the chasing group.

Jarno Pousada decides it in the last kilometer
The men's race was more open and tactical. After a very compact first segment, the leading group gradually thinned out until it was reduced to just a few spots before T2.
In the cycling sector, Jarno Pousada (City of Lugo Fluvial), nacho galvez (Delikia Sports) and Andrew Hilary (Triatlón Albacete Res) managed to open up a gap and reach the final transition with an advantage.
In the decisive 2,5K, Pousada launched his attack with approximately 1.5 kilometers to go. Gálvez was unable to respond, and the Galician crossed the finish line in 52:23, securing both the overall title and the Under-23 championship.
