Cristina Jiménez-Orta achieves the double in Pontevedra

The Sevillian won her second world title in Pontevedra, this time in the 2x2 mixed relay alongside Manuel Pradas.

On June 22, Pontevedra once again experienced an unforgettable day with the celebration of the Mixed 2x2 Relay Duathlon World Championship.

The Spanish team, made up of Cristina Jiménez-Orta y Manuel Pradas, was proclaimed world champion after a brilliant strategy and an impeccable performance from both.

The event demanded the best from each athlete: two consecutive mini-duathlons per person (2 km running, 10 km cycling, and 1 km running). Cristina led the way and repeated the third leg, while Pradas covered the second and fourth.

The rivalry with Italy set the pace from the start. Sofia Ferrari, who had already competed for the individual gold medal with Cristina the day before, was her direct rival in the first relay.

Both maintained a very high pace, with barely any gaps. Pradas matched the Italian's efforts, and everything remained even until the third leg.

It was in his second shift where Cristina made the differenceAfter starting the race tied in the first kilometer, the Sevillian pushed hard on the bike, managed to break away from Ferrari, and opened a decisive 40-second gap. That advantage was maintained in the final stint thanks to Pradas' tactical intelligence, which he managed thoughtfully to secure the victory.

With this triumph, Cristina Jiménez-Orta She closes the weekend with two world gold medals: the junior individual and the mixed relay. A performance that establishes her as one of the most promising athletes in international duathlon and confirms the talent emerging from the Andalusian academy.
