Guillem Montiel has made history by proclaiming itself European middle-distance triathlon champion in Pamplona.
The Catalan triathlete dominated the race with authority from the cycling segment, and maintained his advantage in the running race to cross the finish line alone at the Castle plaza, supported by a devoted audience.
The test, integrated into the Half Triathlon Pamplona-Iruña 2025, celebrated its tenth anniversary as a European venue and brought together more than 1.000 triathletes from 23 countries, including the best elite, U23 and age group athletes on the continent.
In the men's category, the Serbian ognjen stojanovic He won the silver medal after a solid performance, always remaining in the leading group and demonstrating his experience in this type of event.
In the women's competition, the victory went to the Polish woman. Marta Lagownic, who executed a smart strategy by holding the pace on the bike and loosening her stride on the run. The Italian sarah sandrini, for its part, completed the podium with a very consistent performance in all three segments.
Demanding route with an epic finish
The route started in the Swamp of Alloz After a 1.900-meter swim, the race continued with a technical 85-kilometer cycling segment to the heart of Pamplona, and concluded with a 19,5-kilometer run through some of the city's most iconic spots, including Cuesta de Labrit, Taconera, Estafeta Street, and the Old Town.

The atmosphere was spectacular, with hundreds of people cheering on the participants at every turn along the route.
The weather conditions were ideal, which facilitated the safe and smooth running of the event. Furthermore, the event emphasized sustainability with specific measures to minimize its environmental impact.
Pamplona thus closed an unforgettable weekend, after also hosting the Aquathlon European Championship and of Aquabike, consolidating himself as one of the great references of continental triathlon.
