Sam Laidlow sweeps IRONMAN Leeds and seals his ticket to Nice
The first edition of HOMBRE DE HIERRO Leeds This Sunday was held with an all-male event for professional athletes. At 6:00 a.m., the triathletes took to the water in Waterloo Lake (Roundhay Park) under almost perfect conditions.
The French Sam Laidlow, world champion in 2023, took the lead from swimming (45:50), starting alongside Kieran Lindars, Josh Lewis y Cenzino Lebot, with just four seconds between them.
Laidlow's dominance from the bike
Once on the bike, laidlow did what he does best: open a gap. He took advantage of the demanding ramps of Black Hill Road, in the northwest area of Leeds, to gain a minute on his pursuers in the first kilometers. By the end of the first loop he was already four minutes ahead of Nathan Guerber, with the trio Lewis–Lindars–Palmer one minute back.
On the third lap, Guerbeur began to cut back slightly, but it wasn't enough: Laidlow arrived at T2 with more than five minutes of advantage and with everything in favor.
A devastating marathon to close the exhibition
