Not only did Denmark's Magnus Ditlev take the victory, but he shattered the circuit record with a dominant performance from start to finish.

A challenging start in the water

As is typical in this race, the swim segment was quite tough, with two laps and an Australian-style start. At the front, a group led by Marten Van Riel , followed by Jonas Schomburg , Jamie Riddle , and Andrew Horsfall-Turner, established an initial advantage.

Meanwhile, Ditlev, known as a devastating cyclist but with less prominence in the water, started slightly behind, more than two minutes behind the leaders.

Ditlev sweeps the field and breaks the cycling record

But it all started on two wheels. On a windy course, Ditlev showed his strength and began to rapidly close the gap. After catching the leaders halfway through the course, the Dane pushed even harder, quickly leaving Van Riel and Schomburg behind.

At the end of the 180 kilometers, Ditlev had not only overtaken the rest of the field, but had also shattered the course record on the bike by more than seven minutes. He reached the second transition with an impressive lead of over six and a half minutes over his closest rivals.

The foot race confirms the superiority

With such a large lead, Ditlev only had to manage his effort well during the final marathon. Van Riel , the current world number one and T100 champion , tried to close the gap and quickly overtook Schomburg, but he could do little against the Dane's solid pace.

Finally, Ditlev crossed the finish line in 7:44:55 with a marathon time of 2:40:38, demonstrating that his talent extends far beyond cycling. Van Riel secured second place and thus earned his spot at the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, finishing the race four and a half minutes behind the champion.

The biggest surprise was the performance of Jonas Schomburg , who was making his Ironman debut after recently competing in the World Triathlon Series (WTCS). The German finished in third place with an outstanding performance.
