Australian Matthew Hauser lived up to expectations by winning the Grand Final WTCS of Wollongong 2025 and become world triathlon champion, also becoming the first athlete in history to achieve four WTCS victories in a single season.

The Australian Matthew Hauser made history in Wollongong by conquering the 2025 World Triathlon Series Grand Final and with it the World title.

The local triathlete dominated a perfect race from start to finish in front of his home crowd and closed out an exceptional year with four wins on the circuit, an unprecedented record in the WTCS.

He arrived as the favorite and didn't disappoint. Hauser only needed to finish on the podium to secure the championship, but he decided not to speculate: he attacked from the first meter of the swim and never let victory slip away.

Mastery from swimming

The Australian set the pace from the water, coming out of the sea first with a split of 17:49, opening a gap over the rest of the group. His pace commanded respect, and a leading group of seven triathletes soon formed: Hauser, Henry Graff, Chase mcqueen, Csongor Lehmann, Dorian Coninx, Miguel Tiago Silva y Alessio Crociani.

Their main rivals for the title, Basque Vilaca (BY) and Miguel Hidalgo (BRA), they remained in the chasing group, already about 20 seconds behind. As the bike laps progressed, the breakaway strengthened, with impeccable teamwork among the seven leaders.
