Cascais hosts a spectacular edition of the Swim GP
Hundreds of swimmers and an unforgettable atmosphere at the 13th edition
Last weekend, Cascais once again became the international epicenter of open water swimming with a new edition of the SwimGP
The event, which brought together swimmers from more than 40 countries, offered 1 km, 1.9 km, 3.8 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km events in a spectacular setting between Oeiras and Cascais.
With a vibrant atmosphere from day one, the Portuguese coast experienced a true aquatic celebration where competitiveness, personal growth, and the community spirit that defines the event combined.
3.8km test results: the triathletes' distance
The 3.800-meter race, very popular among triathletes training for long-distance events, offered a top-level spectacle.

20 km: the most epic Swim GP journey
The Swim Grand Prix's premier distance was once again a true challenge of endurance, strategy, and a cool head. The 20 km between Oeiras and Cascais tested not only the swimmers' physicality but also their mentality, as they had to battle the sea for hours.
On a podium full of established names, Marco Inglima and Andrea de La Hera stood out , delivering a brilliant performance after completing one of the most demanding races on the European circuit.

10 km: high pace and a lot of focus
The 10 km race, a classic for long-distance swimmers, did not disappoint. Both the men's and women's categories featured highly tactical races, with steady pace and battles for positions that were decided in the final meters.
In the girls' category, Mariana Santos dominated with intelligence and grit, closely followed by Maria Jimeneja and Candice Tomkis.

In the men's competition, Mauro Inácio once again demonstrated his great form, securing another gold medal in this edition.

This distance of the Swim GP was another of the most competitive, with many competitive and experienced swimmers.

An edition to remember
Cascais once again proved why it's a favorite destination for swimmers worldwide. From the youngest to the most experienced, the Swim GP 2025 made its mark not only for its competitive quality but also for its ability to inspire and connect the swimming community.
The sea was perfect, the atmosphere was unbeatable, and the stories shared—many of them for the first time—add to the 13-year history of this event, which has already established itself as an international benchmark.
The 2025 edition of the Swim GP will also be marked by sad news. During one of the events, a 53-year-old Spanish swimmer died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Despite the rapid intervention of the medical team, he could not be revived. The organization immediately activated all emergency protocols and poured out its support to his family and companions.
