Lucy Charles-Barclay sweeps Oropesa and Sara Pérez Sala achieves a historic Top 10 finish.

The Mediterranean waters in Oropesa del Mar were the perfect setting for an explosive start to the race.

From the first stroke, Lucy Charles-Barclay, Jessica Learmonth y Kate Waugh They imposed their law accompanied only by Sara Perez Living Room, who was able to keep up with the pace of the best swimmers in the world.

The four of them opened a gap and left rivals such as Caroline Pohle, India Lee and Ashleigh Gentle more than a minute behind before reaching T1.

Bike dynamics with tension included

The starting quartet worked well on the bike, with the British women rotating at the front and Pérez Sala holding firm in fourth position.

Everything changed when Learmonth was penalized one minute for drafting, a penalty that eliminated her from contention for the win. Shortly after, the Spaniard lost contact, leaving Charles-Barclay and Waugh in the lead.

The British woman, with a serious and uncompromising expression, decided to increase her pace, ensuring she would reach the second transition with an advantage.

The foot race decides the victory

With 18 kilometers to go, Waugh and Charles-Barclay left T2 together.

The two raced each other for the first 10 km until Lucy unleashed the powerful attack that has earned her so many titles. The world champion HOMBRE DE HIERRO 2023 opened a new path with a firm step and no one could follow it.

He crossed the line in 3:29:29, celebrating his second consecutive victory on the T100 circuit. Waugh (3:31:29) secured silver, while Learmonth (3:33:27) completed an all-British podium despite the penalty.

Pérez Sala fights until the end

Behind, attention was focused on Sara Pérez Sala, who after a great swimming and cycling segment had to squeeze on foot to defend a Top 10 spot.

For the second half of the course she ran alongside Lizzie Rayner and Rebecca Anderbury, managing fatigue and biding her time.

In the final stretch, the Spanish woman drew on her experience to leave Anderbury behind and cross the finish line in tenth position (3:40:14), his best performance on the T100 circuit.

A result that confirms his great progress after a summer of positive sensations in Nice and Samarkand.
