Jelle Geens wins the T100 Vancouver

The international T100 circuit made its stop in Canada with the debut of the Vancouver T100, a race that did not disappoint.

Among a star-studded lineup, it was Jelle Geens who took the victory thanks to a spectacular running segment, beating his compatriot Martin Van Riely to German Mika Noodt.

A world-class podium

Belgian Geens crossed the finish line with a 3 time: 12: 49, achieving his first victory in the series after a great 2nd place in San Francisco.

After him came Martin Van Riel, who continues to lead the overall ranking. The podium was closed by Mika Noodt, who repeated the third place he achieved in California, this time overcoming a drafting penalty. Fourth place went to the Spaniard Antonio Benito, with a great running section in the final part

This is how the race developed

The race started with a fast swim led by Morgan Pearson, Miguel Hidalgo, Mark Dubrick, and Van Riel, with a very strong chasing group.

During the 80km of cycling, changes at the front continued: Rico Bogen, Kyle Smith, and Noodt set the pace, until Smith and Noodt received penalties that would change the dynamics of the race.

In the race on foot, Van Riel and Geens escaped alone until, with 7 km to go, the Leuven native released his breakaway companion with an impressive pace, taking the victory.

Benito, a fighter to the end

The Spanish Antonio Benito He had a great race, especially in the final stretch.

With 2 km to go, he took advantage of Kyle Smith's collapse—who was suffering from cramps—and Rico Bogen's loss of pace to recover two positions and cross the finish line in fourth place.

A top-level result for the triathlete from Tomelloso, who confirms his status as one of Spain's biggest names on the international circuit.

Implications for ranking

With this victory, Geens climbs to 2nd place in the Race To Qatar, while Van Riel takes the provisional lead.

Former leader Rico Bogen drops to third place after a race in which he was unable to maintain his pace on the run.
