Regional triathlon championships in Sagunto: Mariola Sebastián and Paco Martí are crowned champions.

Almardà Beach in Sagunto became the epicenter of the regional triathlon yesterday with the Regional Olympic-distance Triathlon Championship (1.500m swimming, 40km cycling, and 10km running).

With nearly 500 triathletes on the starting line, the event marked its first venue after eight editions and did so with a spectacular atmosphere, coinciding with the final round of the Caixa Popular Club League.

Development of the men's competition

The men kicked off the day with an intense swimming segment. The first out of the water was Yhousman David Perdomo (CDT Resistentia T3).

In the cycling section, the spotlight was on a leading group of more than ten triathletes, with David Blasco at the front and in which Paco Martí , Perdomo and Guillem Segura also rode.

Everything was decided in the running leg, where Paco Martí (Deporama Triatlón Soriano) set the pace to claim the regional championship. He was joined on the podium by Perdomo (silver) and Segura (bronze).

Women's competition with a final comeback

In the women's category, Claudia Breso (University of Alicante) led both the swimming and cycling, arriving at T2 with more than a minute's advantage.

Behind her, Marina Camps and Claudia Roger tried to close the gap. However, Mariola Sebastián's (Tripuçol) strength shone through on the run, as she steadily climbed the ranks to take first place and be crowned regional champion. Camps won silver, and Chloe Nicolas (CD Resistentia T3) completed the podium with bronze.

Final balance

The regional competition in Sagunto left a great impression on participants and organizers, consolidating Almardà Beach as a perfect setting for the triathlon.

The event, in addition to awarding individual titles, concluded a vibrant season for the Caixa Popular Club League, which will return in 2026 with new challenges.
