Everything is ready for the XIV Bilbao Triathlon 2025
This Saturday, June 28, the streets, bridges and banks of the estuary will once again vibrate with the Bilbao Triathlon 2025, which is celebrating its fourteenth edition with record numbers.
The test has experienced a growth of 40% share compared to the previous year, consolidating itself as one of the most important events of the triathlon calendar from the northern peninsula and counts towards the National Ranking of Medium and Long Distance of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).
Three formats, one competitive spirit
The event will offer three modalities: Half, Olympic y Aquabike, adapted to different levels and preferences.
- El Half (middle distance) will be the star event, standing out for its demands and competitive level.
- El Olympic, which is booming in the northern region, attracts more and more triathletes due to its challenging route.
- El Aquabike allows competition only in the swimming and cycling segments, without running.
Favorites and national figures on the starting line
Among the prominent names in the Half category will be Pello Osoro (reigning champion), Mikel Mujika, Julen Díez, Sebastian Fox, Romaric Forques, Guillem Rojas among others.
In the Olympic test, they stand out Mikel Goitisolo, Haritz Garate, Joanes Goitisolo y Cecilia Ramirez, while in the women's draw they will shine Eneritz Urrutia (reigning Olympic champion), Ana Camino y Eider Beriziartua.
An urban tour to enjoy and suffer
Departures will begin at 15:30 p.m. from the Ramón de la Sota Pier, next to the Itsasmuseum Bilbao.
- La swimming It will take place in the estuary, with a round trip route: 2.000 m for Half and Aquabike, and 1.500 m for Olympic.
- El Cycling will include the ascent to Alto de Umbe (7,4 km at an average of 2,5%), with a complete 45 km loop (two loops for Half/Aquabike, one for Olímpico).
- La Foot race It will run on both banks of the estuary, between the Itsasmuseum and the city center, offering one of the most spectacular sections of the national triathlon.
The city of Bilbao, fully committed to triathlon
Friday 27th from 17h AM Race numbers will be handed out on the esplanade of the Itsasmuseum. At 18h AM, in the museum auditorium, will be held official briefing, along with technical talks on nutrition and training by EMEN4SPORT.
On Saturday, the technical secretariat will open at 11h AM and the boxes at 13h AMThe first athletes are expected to cross the finish line on the 17:20 p.m. (Olympic) and 19:00 p.m. (half)The awards ceremony is scheduled for 20h AM.
